Pilot light is out
-
If the pilot isn’t lit, the fireplace won’t start. Sometimes a draft, dust, or a faulty thermocouple/thermopile causes it to go out.
-
-
Gas supply issue
-
The gas valve may be turned off, the line could be blocked, or the tank (if propane) may be empty.
-
-
Dirty components
-
Dust, soot, or spider webs in the pilot assembly or burner can block the flame.
-
-
Faulty thermocouple or thermopile
-
These sensors tell the fireplace that the pilot is lit. If they fail, the system won’t allow gas flow for safety reasons.
-
-
Ignition system failure
-
The igniter (push-button, switch, or remote) could be worn out or not sparking.
-
-
Electrical or remote control issue
-
If your unit uses wall switches, remotes, or batteries, dead batteries or wiring problems could stop it from turning on.
-
-
Safety switch or limit switch tripped
-
Modern fireplaces have safety features that shut them down if overheating or malfunction is detected.
